New Trails & Connections

  • Right of Way and funding secured for the Multi-Use Trail from Western Blvd. to House St.. Construction anticipated in 2017
  • Putnam Bridge Walkway Approach – Design work proceeding, CT DOT working to secure funding

Community Outreach

  • Kiwanis Tour of Glastonbury – Silver sponsor of Discover Connecticut Bicycle Tour
  • Bicycle Helmet Donations – 20 helmets given away to youth participants
  • 3rd Annual Bike Boulevard Scavenger Hunt
  • Audubon Society Earth Day Fair Participant

Road Safety & Town Engagement

  • Board Members of the Glastonbury Bike Advisory Council – Working to plan and Implement Bicycle Friendly Community objectives
  • Hebron Avenue Round-A-Bouts –Advocate for bicycle and pedestrian safety issues regarding proposed construction of traffic circles on Hebron Avenue;
  • Connecticut D.O.T. Community Connectivity Program – Participated in road safety audit. to identify issues that might affect bicycle and pedestrian safety in corridor from end of House St. trail to Riverfront Community Center

2017 Goals:

  • Advise and work with Glastonbury to complete the Western Blvd. to House Street trail
  • Complete many of the requirements to achieve Bicycle Friendly Community Silver Status
  • Advocate for the linkage to the Putnam Bridge pedestrian path
  • Work with recreational cycling groups to develop & plan additional trails and paths
