Construction continues in 2026 for a sidewalk along Main St./Route 17 connecting the Cider
Mill and Chestnut Hill Rd./Red Hill Dr. with a signalized crosswalk at Chestnut Hill Rd. This is
the third and final segment of sidewalk and second signalized crosswalk to be constructed
along that area of Main St. When completed the length of Main St. from the East Hartford town
line to the South Glastonbury village center will have a sidewalk on at least one side of the
street, vastly improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians on this major corridor. BWG has
advocated over several years for these improvements. In addition BWG supported the recently
approved speed limit reduction for part of Main St./Rt. 17.
